The difference floodlights can make!
Both of these training sessions took place on the same grounds in Kilcoole GAA Club!
The funds we hope to raise from this fundraiser are for much needed refurbishments to our clubs grounds. Among other refurbishments such as new goals and astro turf, the primary goal is to raise enough money to afford floodlights for our pitches.
At the moment, there are lights only at the top corner of the pitch which means training sessions occur on only a quarter of the pitch (picture below). This is not enough to provide for multiple teams training at the same time!
This has resulted in most training sessions throughout the year to take place in darkness where there’s little visibility:
Despite their keenness, the teams have been unable to train and practice to their full potential as minimal visibility means only fitness training is suitable because it’s extremely difficult to do any ball work with the lack of lighting.
While this is a life changing opportunity for someone to win a house and to get on the property ladder during a housing crisis, It is also a life changing opportunity for St.Anthony’s Kilcoole United FC and Kilcoole GAA Club!
Kilcoole is a small town with GAA and football playing a prominent role within the community, especially in the lives of the younger generation (and older). Most children and adults from Kilcoole play and volunteer for one or both clubs!
These improvements will ensure a more promising future for the clubs. It will provide a more positive playing experience for the current members as well as encourage prospective players to stay active and join their local sports teams. We know how important it is to encourage kids to be active during their youth and at the moment we’re struggling to provide this necessity for them.
We ask that you join us on this journey to refurbish our sporting facilities that will make it fit for purpose and to see it serve the entire community for generations to come!
Thank you all for your continued support!
